Using m-nitrobenzaldehyde as a raw material, there are two methods for preparing m-hydroxybenzaldehyde.

1. It is obtained by addition, reduction, diazo Chemicalbooking and hydrolysis of m-nitroformaldehyde.

Dissolve sodium bisulfite in water, add m-nitrobenzaldehyde, stir and dissolve at 50°C to obtain an adduct.

The adduct is present in calcium carbonate, heated to reflux with ferrous sulfate for 3h, and reduced to an amino compound.

Cool the reducing liquid to below 15°C, add dropwise sodium nitrite solution for diazotization, and then hydrolyze at 100-110°C to obtain m-hydroxybenzaldehyde.

After decolorization of activated carbon and recrystallization with water, the finished product is obtained.

2. It is obtained by reducing m-nitrobenzaldehyde with stannous chloride, then diazotizing and hydrolyzing.

Prepare a solution of powdered stannous chloride dihydrate, cool to 5°C, and add m-nitrobenzaldehyde.

After slowly raising the temperature to 25-30°C, the temperature rises rapidly. When it reaches 100°C, cool and stir vigorously to obtain an orange paste.

Add concentrated to form a suspension, slowly add sodium nitrite aqueous solution while stirring, and control the temperature at 4-5°C.

After the addition, stir for 1h.

Cool to crystallize, filter out the diazonium salt, add it to boiling water for hydrolysis, and decolorize with activated carbon.

Filter while hot, cool and crystallize to obtain the finished product.
