Methods of production
By dicyandiamide in methanol solvent, at 200℃ and ammonia reaction. This method consumes 1180kg dicyandiamide (98%) and 30kg liquid ammonia per ton of product. Compared with this method, urea method has low cost and is widely used at present. Urea with ammonia as the carrier, silica gel as the catalyst, boiling reaction at 380-400 chemical book temperature, decomposition to generate cyanic acid, and further condensation to produce melamine. After cooling and trapping, the crude product is obtained, and then dissolved, impurities are removed, and the finished product is recrystallized. The urea process consumes about 3800kg of urea and 500kg of liquid ammonia per ton of product to produce melamine.
