The nucleoside of cytosine is cytidine. In Watson-Crick base pairing, it forms three hydrogen bonds with guanine.
Cytosine reagent is used in a wide variety of research applications, as an enzyme substrate or precursor of effector molecules such as cytosine sugars. Cytosine is the raw materials for the production of Molnupiravir.
