Solubility (20C)%W/w: acetone 2, benzene 0.01, 80% caprolactam+20% water 3, chloroform 6, ethyl acetate 1, toluene 0.01, methanol 6, water 0.01.
Chemical name: N,N'-1,6-hexylidene-bis-[3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxybenzenepropanamide]
Content ≥98 per cent
Molecular formula: C40H64O4N2
Molecular weight: 637
Use
1. Petrolatum Irganox 1098 is recommended for polyamide injection moulded products, fibres and films. Depending on the type of polymer, the method of addition, the application and the required stability grade, the amount of addition varies between 0.05 and 1.0%. Irganox 1098 can be easily dispersed in the polymer by conventional extrusion mixing techniques.
2. Petrolatum Irganox 1098 polyester antioxidant can be added at 0.05-0.20% during polyamide polycondensation to prevent the occurrence of discolouration of the polymer during post-processing, spinning and fine carding. If Irganox 1098 is added prior to or during polyamide polycondensation, the reaction conditions and chain terminator concentration may need to be adjusted to compensate for the changes introduced by the antioxidant.
3. Depending on the base resin and stability requirements, the recommended dosage of Ciba Irganox1098 in polyacetal, polyester, polyurethane, saturated and unsaturated rubber is 0.05-0.5%.
4. The product can be used in conjunction with other additives, such as synergistic stabilizers (phosphite, sulfide, hydroxylamine, lactone), light stabilizers (UV absorbers, hindered amines) and other functional stabilizers. These products are particularly effective in applications such as the binary complex of Irganox1098 with Irganos168 (Irganosb1171) and the binary complex with Irganos12 (Irganoxlc-71).
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS: Follow good industrial practice. Apply the product with care and try to avoid contamination of the environment. The workplace must be well ventilated to avoid dust and proximity to sources of ignition.
BASF Ciba Irganox 1098 is approved for use in food contact plastics in many countries.
