Usnic Acid is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that has a strong inhibitory effect on most gram-positive bacteria. The concentration of 50μg/mL can completely inhibit bacterial growth, and it is used as a highly effective preservative in cosmetics. It can selectively inhibit streptococcus, the main bacteria that cause oral diseases and dental caries.
