Silver has an atomic number of 47 and is a silver-white precious metal. Silver exists in nature in a small amount as a free elemental, mainly as a silver-containing compound ore. The chemical properties of silver are stable, low activity, expensive, good thermal and electrical conductivity, not easily corroded by chemicals, soft and malleable.
Silver has good electrical and thermal conductivity and the best reflection of white light. Silver does not oxidize in dry, warm air or oxygen, but in humid air containing sulfur, the surface will turn black, and it is very resistant to alkaline substances, but it is very easy to be dissolved by nitric acid (HNO3) and concentrated sulfuric acid (H2SO4). Naturally occurring silver is often mixed with sulfides, or with sulfides of other metals (lead, zinc, copper).
