Product Description:
It is a light - green crystal. It effloresces in dry air and is superficially oxidized to brown basic ferric sulfate in humid air. Ferrous sulfate is soluble in water but almost insoluble in ethanol. Its aqueous solution oxidizes slowly in cold air and faster in hot air. It has large coagulation particles, fast sedimentation, good decolorization effect and low cost. The relative density (d15) is 1.897, and it is irritating. Ferrous sulfate can be used as a chromatographic analysis reagent, for spot analysis to determine platinum, selenium, nitrite and nitrate. Ferrous sulfate can also be used as a reducing agent, for making ferrites, water purification, as a polymerization catalyst, in photoengraving, etc.

 

Application: 
Water treatment: Ferrous sulfate is used for flocculation and purification of water, and for removing phosphates from municipal and industrial sewage to prevent eutrophication of water bodies.

Reducing agent: A large amount of ferrous sulfate is used as a reducing agent, mainly to reduce chromates in cement.

Medicinal use: Ferrous sulfate is used to treat iron - deficiency anemia; it is also used for iron supplementation in food. Long - term excessive use may cause side effects such as abdominal pain and nausea. In medicine, it can also be used as a local astringent and hematinic, and can be used for chronic blood loss caused by uterine fibroids.

Coloring agent:
a. Ferrous sulfate is required for the production of iron - tannate ink and other inks. Ferrous sulfate is also contained in mordants for wood staining.
