Description : OXYCLOZANIDE is an anthelmintic (flukicide) well reported in British Pharmacopoeia (Veterinary) 1993, page No. 35 Chemical Name : 3, 3’, 5,5,6-pentachloro-2’hydroxy salicylanilide 2,3,5-trichloro-N-(3,5-dichloro-2-hydroxyphenyl)-6-hydroxybenzamide CAS Registry No. : [2277-92-1] Structural Formula : Specifications : The Product conforms to BP Vet a) Appearance : A pale cream coloured, odourless powder b) Identification : i) Infra-red absorption spectrum concordant with reference spectrum for Oxyclozanide (Polymorph B) ii) The light absorption, in the range 250 to 350 nm of a 0.003% (w/v) solution in acidified methanol exhibits a maximum only at 300 nm. The absorbance at the maximum is about 0.76. c) Melting Point : About 208 OC d) Ionisable chlorine : 0.25% (w/w) maximum (calc. as NaCI MW 58.5) e) Loss on drying at 0.7 : 1.0% (w/w) maximum KPA & 60 OC f) Sulphated ash : 0.2% (w/w) maximum g) Assay (calc.
