3,5-Diisopropylbenzene hydroperoxide Usage

As an initiator for styrene-butadiene rubber polymerization, the initiation rate is 30%-50% faster than cumene peroxide but slower than triisopropylbenzene peroxide and tert-butyl cumene peroxide.

It can also be used as an initiator for other polymers.

  1. Polymerization Initiator:

    • For high-temperature bulk, solution, or suspension polymerization of monomers such as styrene (PS), acrylates (PMMA), and vinyl acetate.

  2. Curing / Crosslinking Agent:

    • As a medium-to-high temperature curing agent for Unsaturated Polyester Resins (UPR), especially for compression molding of Sheet Molding Compounds (SMC) and Bulk Molding Compounds (BMC).

    • For the crosslinking of elastomers like Polyethylene (PE) and EPDM rubber to enhance their heat resistance, mechanical strength, and chemical resistance.

  3. Chemical Synthesis:

    • As an oxidizing agent in specific organic synthesis reactions.
