From the previous paper we have evidence for an antigen-antibody-like reaction being the basic mechanism in the binding of the divalent contrast media Ioglycamide and Iodipamide to the monoclonal paraprotein IgME.O.. The influence of length and chemical structure of the linking chains of various divalent compounds with identical antigenic determinants is shown: the exceptional case of Ioglycamide is discussed in detail. Some relations between chemical structure and binding affinity of monovalent cross reacting substances are described. With the example of a preexisting ‘allergy’ to MS 222 in the case history of the patient, some aspects concerning induction of gammopathia are discussed.
