The electrochromic behaviour of sublimed, thin films of zirconium and MOLYBDENUM PHTHALOCYANINE (cas 15152-82-6)s is presented. The electrochromic properties of these MIV phthalocyanines are compared to those of the lanthanide diphthalocyanines. An explanation of the observed electrochromic phenomena in which the reduction and oxidation take place on the phthalocyanine ring rather than on the metals is presented.
