To determine the structure of caprolactam tetrabutyl ammonium halide (F, Cl and Br) ionic liquids and the interaction of ionic liquids and solvents (water and ethanol), the effects of solvents on the electrical conductivity of ionic liquids were investigated at atmospheric pressure and temperatures from 293.15 to 333.15 K. The electrical conductivity of ionic liquids increases with an increase in temperature, and the anion electronegativity decreases in the following order: F > Cl > Br. The electrical conductivity of the binary system of ionic liquid and solvents (water and ethanol) appears to decrease slightly with an increase in temperature. The electrical conductivity of the caprolactam tetrabutyl ammonium halide ionic liquid solutions is much larger than the electrical conductivity of the pure ionic liquids under the same conditions. The electrical conductivity of aqueous solutions of ionic liquids is very different from the electrical conductivity of ethanol solutions.
