1.1. The influence of the pressure, the space velocity, and the temperature on the dimerization and polymerization of ethylene in the presence of an impregnated nickelous oxide-aluminosilicate catalyst has been investigated.2.2. At the optimum temperature of 275°, the main reactions are: at atmospheric pressure, the dimerization of the ethylene; at an elevated pressure— about 30 atm, polymerization to liquid hydrocarbons. Increase in the space velocity of the ethylene within the range from 100 to 1000 h−1 favours dimerization.3.3. At a low space velocity of the ethylene, redistribution of hydrogen takes place.
