In the current study, we demonstrate a low cost approach for the facile synthesis of Cu and Cu-CuO nanocomposite by a chemical reduction method. By tuning the chemical constituent in the reaction, we can effectively synthesise metal-semiconductor (Cu-CuO) nanocomposite through this method. The synthesized samples were characterized using XRD and SEM analysis. The synthesis of p-Phenylenediamine (cas 106-50-3) (p-PDA) using NaBH4 assisted catalytic reduction of p-nitroaniline has been selected as the model reaction to study the catalytic efficiency of CuO and Cu-CuO nanocompsite. Cu-CuO nanocomposite shows enhances catalytic efficieny than pure CuO.
