  • Production of Candicidin by Streptomyces griseus
  • Add time:09/06/2019         Source:sciencedirect.com

SummaryOn studying the production of candicidin by Streptomyces griseus, certain factors controlling the biosynthesis of the antibiotic were explored. The antibiotic was produced at 72 hours of the incubation period. Glucose, mannose, sucrose, and molasses were the best carbon sources for the production of the antibiotic, while soybean meal, corn steep liquor, and peptone were the best nitrogen sources. L-asparagine, L-histidine, L-methionine, L-alanine were stimulatory for the biosynthesis of candicidin. Phosphorus in 65.0–100.0 μg/ml. was suitable for the production of the antibiotic, while ferrous sulphate was favourable as trace element.
