  • Add time:09/07/2019         Source:sciencedirect.com

This chapter summarizes new research in the development of bismaleimide-modified benzoxazine alloys. The curing behavior, catalytic effect between benzoxazine and bismaleimide, and the influence of additional functional groups attached in benzoxazine monomers, such as allyl, furan group, nitrile group, phenolic-OH, etc., on curing reactions of the alloys are discussed. And corresponding main curing processes, cross-linked structures, and properties of polybenzoxazine/bismaleimide alloys are introduced. Some interesting results have been obtained. The ether linkage is formed from the copolymerization between two components of benzoxazine and bismaleimide, besides the self-polymerization of each individual component. The cured alloys show higher tensile strength, improved Tg, and a higher degradation temperature and char yield with increasing bismaleimide content or the introduction of additional reactive functional groups. As an advanced matrix, polybenzoxazine/bismaleimide alloys exhibit a potential application value in aeronautics, astronautics, and fuel cell areas.
