1-Dodecene Specification

Preparation of 1-Dodecene: it can be prepared by decyl-oxirane. This reaction will need reagents SmI2 and N,N-dimethylaminoethanol, and solvents tetrahydrofuran and hexamethylphosphoric acid triamide. The reaction time is 1.5 hours with ambient temperature. The yield is about 95%.

Uses of 1-Dodecene: it can react with tetrabromomethane to get 1,1,1,3-tetrabromododecane. This reaction will need reagent Et3B and solvents benzene and hexane. The reaction time is 15 hours at reaction temperature of 25 °C. The yield is about 85%.
