Preparation: this chemical can be prepared by 2,2,2-trifluoro-1-phenyl-ethanone at the temperature of 20 °C. This reaction will need reagent polymethylhydrosiloxane, N,N'-dibenzylethylene diamine and solvent methanol, toluene with the reaction time of 1 hour. This reaction will also need catalyst diethyl zinc. The yield is about 99%.

Uses of 1-Phenyl-2,2,2-trifluoroethanol: it can be used to produce 2-(2',5'-difluorophenyl)-1,1,1-trifluoro-2-phenylethane at the temperature of 50 - 60 °C. It will need reagent AlCl3 with the reaction time of 5 hours. The yield is about 41%.
