Preparation of 1H-Imidazole-1,3-15N2: It can be obtained by Formaldehyde and Glyoxal. The reaction occurs with reagents 15NH4Cl and 35 percent aq.HCl and solvent H2O at temperature of 95 °C for 1.5 hours. The yield is 53%.
Uses of 1H-Imidazole-1,3-15N2: it is used to produce other chemicals. For example, it can react with Toluene-4-sulfonic acid methyl ester to get [15N2]-1-Methylimidazole. The reaction occurs with reagent Potassium hydride and solvent Tetrahydrofuran for 1 hour. The yield is 50%.
