Poison by intravenous and intraperitoneal routes. Moderately toxic by ingestion. Human systemic effects by ingestion: hallucinations, distorted perceptions and convulsions or effect on seizure threshold. When heated to decomposition it emits very toxic fumes of NOx and HCl.
