Preparation: this chemical can be prepared by 2-(phenylseleno)-decan-1-ol at the temperature of 1 °C. This reaction will need reagent H₂O₂ and solvent tetrahydrofuran with the reaction time of 2 hours. The yield is about 45%.

Uses of 2-Decen-1-ol: it can be used to produce decan-1-ol at the temperature of 90-100 °C. It will need reagents hydroxylamine hydrochloride, potassium hydroxide, ethyl acetate and solvent dimethylformamide with the reaction time of 1 hour. The yield is about 95%.
