Preparation of Chlorodiphenylmethylsilane: It can be obtained by methyl-diphenyl-silane. This reaction needs reagent PhCl and Ni by heating.

Uses of Chlorodiphenylmethylsilane: It is used in the synthesis of organic silicon resin and silicone compounds containing phenyl. It also can react with chloro-trimethyl-silane to get 1,1,1,2-tetramethyl-2,2-diphenyl-disilane. This reaction needs solvent tetrahydrofuran and hexamethylphosphoric acid triamide by electrochemical reduction. The yield is 90%.
