Preparation: this chemical can be prepared by 1,2-Epoxy-cyclododecane. This reaction will need reagents NaBH3CN; BF3•Et2O and solvent tetrahydrofuran. The reaction time is 22 hours with reaction temperature of 66 °C. The yield is about 94%.

Uses of Cyclododecanol: it can be used to produce Bromo-cyclododecane at temperature of 100 °C. It will need reagent phosphorus tribromide with reaction time of 3 hours. The yield is about 34%.
