Preparation: this chemical can be prepared by 1-amino-cyclopentanecarboxylic acid ethyl ester at the ambient temperature. This reaction will need reagent LiAlH₄ and solvent diethyl ether. The yield is about 77.8%.

Uses of Cyclopentanemethanol,1-amino-: it can be used to produce  (8-oxo-9-oxa-6-aza-spiro[4.5]dec-7-ylidene)-acetic acid methyl ester at the ambient temperature. It will need solvent methanol with the reaction time of 3 hours. The yield is about 72%.
