Equipertine Specification
Equipertine with cas registry number of 153-87-7 is also known as Oxypertine ; Equipertine ; Forit ; Ntegrin ; Opertil ; WIN 18501-2 ; 1-[2-(5,6-Dimethoxy-2-methyl-3-indolyl)ethyl]-4-phenylpiperazine . It is an indole derivative with general properties similar to those of the phenothiazine and chlorpromazine . Equipertine is a drug used as an antipsychotic or antidepressant. It can be quaternized with an ethyl group and prepared as the chloride hydrochloride by recrystallization from the ethyl sulphate base.The identity and purity can be confirmed by melting point, infrared and ultraviolet absorption spectra and by analysis of the elements.
