FURIL Uses

Furil (CAS NO.492-94-4) is used in organic synthesis.

FURIL Production

Furil (CAS NO.492-94-4) is obtained from furfural. Furfural with the catalytic potassium cyanide, condensation reaction with asymmetric benzoin to get 2-Hydroxy ethyl ketone flavor furans. Then oxidation, obtaining Furil.Adding Lead sulfate 158g (including the five crystal water), 210g pyridine, 90g water, mixing with heated water bath into a homogeneous solution, then add 57.6g Furoin, after 2h stirring in heated water bath, then adding into the 1L of cold water, precipitation of crystallization, filtration, wash, ethanol wash. then recrystallized by Ethanol, Furil is derived .
