The Magnesium(II) nitrate (1:2) with CAS registry number of 10377-60-3 is also known as Magniosan. The IUPAC name is Magnesium dinitrate. Its EINECS registry number is 231-104-6. In addition, the formula is MgN2O6 and the molecular weight is 148.31. This chemical is a white crystalline solid that soluble in water. It reacts exothermically with other chemicals and may cause inflammation to the skin or other mucous membranes. What's more, this chemical is used as oxidant, dehydrating agent, agent of wheat ash and also can be used for manufacture of explosives, catalysts or other magnesium salts.

Preparation of Magnesium(II) nitrate (1:2): it is prepared by reaction of basic magnesium carbonate with nitric acid. The reaction can release of carbon dioxide to form magnesium nitrate solution.
