Methoxyethyl mercuric acetate Uses

Methoxyethyl mercuric acetate (CAS NO.151-38-2) is formerly used as a pesticide in seed treatment for cotton and small grains. It exhibits high fungicidal activity against leaf stripe of barley, stinking smut of wheat, snow mold of rye; against seedling diseases in beets and legumes, and for dressing "seed" potatoes, bulbs, and tubers. Not registered as a pesticide in the U.S.

Methoxyethyl mercuric acetate Specification

Methoxyethyl mercuric acetate (CAS NO.151-38-2) is also called (2-Methoxyethyl)mercuric acetate ; (2-Methoxyethyl)mercury acetate ; (Acetato-O)(2-methoxyethyl)mercury ; 2-Methoxyethylmerkuriacetat ; Acetato(2-methoxyethyl)mercury ; Ba 2743 ; Caswell No. 551B ; Cekusil universal A ; EPA Pesticide Chemical Code 041508 ; HSDB 6387 ; Landisan ; Mema ; Mema RM ; Mercuran ; Mercury, (acetato)(2-methoxyethyl)- ; Mercury, (acetato-o)(2-methoxyethyl)- ; Mercury, acetoxy(2-methoxyethyl)- ; NSC 202875 ; Panogen ; Panogen (VAN) ; Panogen M ; Panogen Metox ; Radosan . Methoxyethyl mercuric acetate (CAS NO.151-38-2) is crystals. Organometallics, such as Methoxyethyl mercuric acetate , are reactive with many other groups. Incompatible with acids and bases. Organometallics are good reducing agents and therefore incompatible with oxidizing agents. Often reactive with water to generate toxic or flammable gases. Methoxyethyl mercuric acetate (CAS NO.151-38-2) highly toxic. Target organs are brain and central nervous system. Inhalation can cause lung damage; ingestion can cause kidney damage. Women of childbearing age and persons with eczema, renal or neurological disorders should not be exposed to mercurials. When heated to decomposition, Methoxyethyl mercuric acetate emits toxic fumes of mercury. Methoxyethyl mercuric acetate may burn but does not ignite readily. Container may explode in heat of fire.
