Human systemic effects by parenteral route: cough, dyspnea, nausea or vomiting. Mildly toxic by inhalation and ingestion. Moderate skin and eye irritation. A flammable liquid when exposed to heat or flame. When heated to decomposition it emits acrid smoke and irritating fumes. Used as a vehicle for pesticides. See also PETROLEUM and ASPHALT.
