The systematic name of Polymethylhydrosiloxane is Poly(oxy(methylsilylene)). With the CAS registry number 9004-73-3, it is also named as Hydrogen methyl polysiloxane. The product's category is Siloxanes. It is clear colorless viscous liquid which is practically insoluble in water. And it is stable under normal temparature and pressure. Additionally, this chemical should be sealed in the container and stored in the cool, ventilate and dry place.
Preparation of Polymethylhydrosiloxane: In the industry, it can be obtained from dimethylchlorosilane and water by the following reaction: nSi(CH3)2Cl2 + nH2O → [Si(CH3)2O]n + 2nHCl. During polymerization, this reaction evolves potentially hazardous hydrogen chloride gas.
The Polymethylhydrosiloxane has widely uses. 1.As a component, it is used in silicone grease and other silicone based lubricants, as well as in defoaming agents, mold release agents, damping fluids, heat transfer fluids, polishes, cosmetics, hair conditioners and other applications. 2. As a filler fluid, it has also been used in breast implants, although this practice has decreased somewhat, due to safety concerns, despite some evidence that it may be protective against breast cancer. 3. this chemical can be directly patterned by surface-charge lithography.
When you are using this chemical, please be cautious about it as the following:
It is flammable abd irritating to eyes, respiratory system and skin. So people should not breathe vapour and avoid contact with skin and eyes.
