Poison by subcutaneous route. Sodium 4-methylphenoxide (CAS NO.1121-70-6) ignites when heated in air even when moist. Oxidizes vigorously when heated in air. When heated to decomposition it emits toxic fumes of Na2O. See also SODIUM COMPOUNDS.
