Sodium silicate Specification

Sodium silicate, with CAS number of 1344-09-8, can be called silanediolate, 1-oxo-, sodium salt (1:2); Disodium oxosilanediolate; silanediolate, oxo-, disodium salt. Sodium silicate is the common name for a compound sodium metasilicate, Na2SiO3, also known as waterglass or liquid glass.Sodium silicate is a white powder that is readily soluble in water, producing an alkaline solution. It is stable in neutral and alkaline solutions.Sodium carbonate and silicon dioxide react when molten to form sodium silicate and carbon dioxide.

Uses of Sodium silicate:
Sodium silicate can be used to fill gaps within the head gasket. Commonly used on aluminum alloy cylinder heads, which are sensitive to thermally induced surface deflection. Sodium silicate flocculant properties are also used to clarify wine and beer by precipitating colloidal particles. Sodium silicate gel is also used as a substrate for algal growth in aquaculture hatcheries. Sodium silicate was also used as an egg preservation agent through the early 20th century with large success.

Safety information of Sodium silicate:
When you are using Sodium silicate, please be cautious about it as the following:(1)In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice; (2)Wear suitable protective clothing and gloves; (3)In case of accident or if you feel unwell, seek medical advice immediately (show label where possible); (4)Keep container tightly closed and in a well-ventilated place;; (5)After contact with skin, wash immediately with plenty of ... (to be specified by the manufacturer); (6)Wear suitable protective clothing, gloves and eye/face protection.
