Streptokinase Uses

Streptokinase (CAS NO.9002-01-1) has been used as an inexpensive and effective clot-dissolving medication in some cases of myocardial infarction (heart attack) and pulmonary embolism. It may find a use in helping to prevent postoperative adhesions, a common complication of surgery, especially abdominal surgery (appendectomy, gall stones, hysterectomy, etc.)

Streptokinase Specification

Streptokinase ,its cas register number is 9002-01-1. It also can be called SK .It is very unstable in dilute solution and can bind and activate human plasminogen. There are three domains to Streptokinase , denoted β (residues 151–287), α (residues 1–150), and γ (residues 288–414). Each domain binds plasminogen, although none can activate plasminogen independently. One study using animal models (rats) found that when used with a PHBV membrane drug-delivery system, it was 90 percent effective in preventing adhesions. Streptokinase (CAS NO.9002-01-1) is given intravenously as soon as possible after the onset of a heart attack to dissolve clots in the arteries of the heart wall and it is usually given only for a person's first heart attack.
