Preparation of Tetraphenyl methane: it is prepared by reaction of chloro-triphenyl-methane with phenyllithium. The reaction needs catalyst Ph2TlBr and solvent diethyl ether with ambient temperature. The yield is about 74%.

Uses of Tetraphenyl methane: it is used to produce 1-{4-[tris-(4-acetyl-phenyl)-methyl]-phenyl}-ethanone by Friedel-Crafts acylation reaction with acetyl chloride. The reaction occurs with reagent aluminium chloride and solvent CS2 with other condition of heating for 18 hours. The yield is about 99%.

Tetraphenyl methane is used to produce 1-{4-[tris-(4-acetyl-phenyl)-methyl]-phenyl}-ethanone by Friedel-Crafts acylation reaction with acetyl chloride.
