The Tocofersolan is polyethylene glycol derivative of α-tocopherol with the formula C33H54O5.(C2H4O)n. The systematic name of this chemical is Poly(oxy-1,2-ethanediyl), alpha-(4-((3,4-dihydro-2,5,7,8-tetramethyl-2- (4,8,12-trimethyltridecyl)-2H-1-benzopyran-6-yl)oxy)-1,4-dioxobutyl)-omega-hydroxy-, (2R-(2R*(4R*,8R*)))-. With the CAS registry number 9002-96-4, it is also named as alpha-Tocopheryl polyethylene glycol succinate. The other registry numbers are 162849-98-1, 249747-47-5, 30999-06-5 and 75139-00-3. It is a synthetic water-soluble version of vitamin E.
Uses of Tocofersolan: It is used as a vitamin E supplement or to treat vitamin E deficiency in individuals who cannot absorb fats due to disease. It is also used in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals as an antioxidant.
