Emodin, a natural anthraquinone derivative isolated from Rheum palmatum L, is reported to possess antiviral, antiinflammatory, antiulcerogenic, immunosuppressive and chemopreventive activities. Chemical Name: 1,3,8-Trihydroxy-6- methylanthraquinone Molecular Structure: Specification: 50%,98% HPLC Characteristic: orange powder Source: root & rhizome of Rheum palmatum L. Application: 1. Emodin could cause the regression of tumor. Both in vitro and in vivo studies suggest that emodin can be developed as a promising anti-chronic myeloid leukemia drug. 2. Emodin has been reported to exhibit anti-cancer effect on several human cancers such as liver cancers, lung cancers and pancreatic cancer. 3. The effect of emodin with ampicillin and oxacillin was found to be synergistic or partially synergistic against MRSA(methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) infection. Emodin reduced the minimum inhibitory concentrations of ampicillin and oxacillin.
