method of production

For the first time since 1899, with formic acid reaction with dimethylamine synthesis of dimethyl formamide, developed in different raw material for synthesis of dimethyl formamide process methods, such as dimethylamine carbon monoxide method, formamide dimethylamine, hydrogen cyanide acid - methanol, acetonitrile - methanol method, methyl formate - dimethylamine, chloral - dimethylamine and so on. But at present, dimethylamine - carbon monoxide method is still the main method in foreign industrial production. 1. Methyl formate-dimethylamine method is used to esterify formic acid and methanol to produce methyl formate, and then react with dimethylamine to produce dimethylformamide. Then, methanol and unreacted methyl formate are recovered by distillation in Chemicalbook and then the finished product is prepared by vacuum distillation. 2. Dimethylamine - carbon monoxide method is obtained by direct reaction of dimethylamine and carbon monoxide under the action of sodium methoxide. The reaction conditions were 1.5-2.5mpa and 110-150℃. The crude product is made into the finished product by rectification. 3. Methyl formate was synthesized from carbon monoxide and methanol by carbonyl group at high pressure and 80-100℃, and then reacted with dimethylamine to form dimethylformamide. After rectification, the finished product was obtained.

Details:

Dimethylformamide(CAS 68-12-2) is primarily used as a low volatile solvent. Dimethylformamide is used in the manufacture of acrylic fibers and plastics. In the pharmaceutical industry, it is also used in the manufacture of pesticides, following agent, artificial leather, fiber, film and surface coating. Dimethylformamide is a reagent for the synthesis of Bouveault aldehydes and vilsmeier-Haack reactions (another useful aldehyde synthesis reaction). In the NMR spectrum, the proton on the methyl group of the dimethylformamide forms two single peaks because the carbonyl carbon-nitrogen bond rotates at a very slow rate over the TIME scale of the NMR. The carbon - nitrogen bond of carbonyl group is greater than one, while the carbon - oxygen bond of amide is less than two. The Chemicalbook C=O band in the infrared spectrum of amides is usually less than 1700cm-1 because its C=O bond is weakened by the density of electrons supplied from nitrogen to oxygen. Dimethylformamide penetrates and expands most plastics and is often used as an ingredient in paint removers. Dimethylformamide is also called a "universal solvent", but it also has its limitations. High boiling point, 154℃, as a solvent of many polymer materials is more appropriate, in organic synthesis should be carefully selected, often encounter solvent removal is not clean. In addition, it can be mixed with water, simple solvent recovery method is difficult to dehydration, no matter the cost, can be washed off with water, in the small test should consider the feasibility of large-scale production. Need to calculate the cost and waste water treatment plan.
