Many coagulation factors are involved in the whole coagulation process. Under physiological conditions, coagulation factors are generally inactive. When these coagulation factors are activated, a series of enzymatic reactions of "waterfall theory of coagulation mechanism", which is still recognized today, are produced and lead to blood coagulation. Tissue factor, tissue thromboplastin or coagulation factor III, is the only coagulation factor that does not exist in animal blood. It belongs to lipoprotein, and its main component is phospholipid. Tissue factor lipoprotein widely exists in animal tissues such as brain, lung and placenta. It is released after tissue injury and acts on the exogenous coagulation system. It promotes the common coagulation pathway with the products of endogenous coagulation system under the catalysis of thrombin to achieve the coagulation effect.

The main function of blood coagulant is to accelerate blood coagulation, that is, shorten the coagulation time of isolated blood without affecting the necessary components of blood, and promote the separation of serum.
