Preparation: this chemical can be prepared by 2-chloro-pyridine and ethynyl-trimethyl-silane. This reaction will need reagent bispalladium dichloride, copper(I) iodide, triethylamine. The reaction time is 12 hours with reaction temperature of 120 °C. The yield is about 80%.

Uses of 2-(Trimethylsilylethynyl)pyridine: it can be used to produce 2-ethynyl-pyridine at temperature of 20 °C. It will need reagent 1N aq. NaOH and solvent methanol with reaction time of 1 hour. The yield is about 90%.
