Dextrin Specification

With the CAS registry number 9004-53-9, Dextrins is also named as Cream Dextrin 15. The product's categories are Carbohydrate Extracts; Base Ingredients; Carbohydrate Sources (Sugars / Extracts); Carbohydrates; Carbohydrates D-F Biochemicals and Reagents; Polysaccharide; Sugars for Media. It is white, yellow or brown powders that are partially or fully water-soluble, yielding optically active solutions of low viscosity. It is stable, hygroscopic, combustible and incompatible with strong oxidizing agents. Additionally, this chemical should be sealed in the container and stored in the cool and dry place.

Preparation of Dextrins: It is produced by the hydrolysis of starch or glycogen. It also can be produced from starch using enzymes like amylases, as during digestion in the human body and during malting and mashing, or by applying dry heat under acidic conditions (pyrolysis or roasting).

Uses of of Dextrins: It is used as thickener, stabilizer, adhesives and surface decoration agent. It is also used as good adhesive in paper coating, textile sizing, preparation of ink, etc. In addition, this chemical is used as a crispness enhancer for food processing, in food batters, coatings and glazes, (E number 1400).
