  • Safety A poison by ingestion and inhalation. Corrosive to the skin, eye, and mucous membranes. Very unstable. A powerful oxidizer which can react violently with oxidizable materials. A very dangerous explosion hazard; it explodes on slightest provocation. The liquid explodes on freezing at −167°C. The gas explodes when exposed to sparks, flame, or on contact with grease, dust, rubber, or aqueous potassium iodide. Ignites in contact with hydrogen gas.
