Reported in EPA TSCA Inventory.
Famphur with the CAS registry number 52-85-7, is also named as American cyanamid CL 38023 ; O-[4-(Dimethylsulfamoyl)phenyl] O,O-dimethyl phosphorothioate ; Phosphorothioic acid,O,O-dimethyl ester O-ester with p-hydroxy-N,N-dimethylbenzenesulfonamide .
Organothiophosphates, such as Famphur, are susceptible to formation of highly toxic and flammable phosphine gas in the presence of strong reducing agents such as hydrides. Partial oxidation by oxidizing agents may result in the release of toxic phosphorus oxides. Famphur (CAS NO.52-85-7) is used as insecticide.
Poison by ingestion and intramuscular routes. Moderately toxic by skin contact. A cholinesterase inhibitor. When heated to decomposition it emits toxic fumes of NOx and SOx. See also parathion. 1.It is possible risk of harm to the unborn child, so people don't breathe dust. 2. It is may cause sensitization by skin contact and irritating to eyes, respiratory system and skin., people must be avoid contact with skin and eyes and wear suitable protective clothing and gloves. 3. It is toxic by inhalation, in contact with skin and if swallowed, so people do not breathe vapour. 4. It is may cause cancer, so it is must avoid exposure and obtain special instructions before use. And Its toxic tabulation is:
