Ferrous ammonium sulfate hexahydrate Specification

The Ferrous ammonium sulfate hexahydrate, with the CAS registry number 7783-85-9, is also known as Diammonium iron disulfate hexahydrate. It belongs to the product category of Metal Sulfate. Its EINECS number is 233-151-8. This chemical's molecular formula is (NH4)2.Fe.(SO4)2.6(H2O) and molecular weight is 392.14. What's more, its systematic name is Ammonium iron(2+) sulfate hydrate (2:1:2:6). This chemical should be sealed and stored in a cool and dry place. Moreover, it should be protected from oxides. It is used as analytical reagents. It is also used as polymerization catalysts.

Preparation: dissolve ferrisulphas and ammonium sulfate in a small amount of water, and then heat to 60-70 °C and pour into porcelain. Use a small amount of sulfuric acid to acidize and stir continously to cool (temperature not more than 60 °C). Filter out crystallization after standing, then wash with 50% ethanol, and dry in a cold place until crystallization does not stick to the glass rod, and the analytically pure products are made.

FeSO4 + (NH4)2SO4 + 6H2O = (NH4)2Fe(SO4)2·6H2O
