L-Domoic acid History

In 1958, L-Domoic acid (CAS NO.14277-97-5) was originally isolated from the red alga called "doumoi" or "hanayanagi"  in Japan. And "Doumoi" is used as an anthelmintic in Tokunoshima, Kagoshima. Domoic acid also can be produced by diatoms of the genus Pseudo-nitzschia.

L-Domoic acid Specification

L-Domoic acid ,its cas register number is 14277-97-5. It also can be called DA ; [2S-[2a,3b,4b(1Z,3E,5S*)]]-2-Carboxy-4-(5-carboxy-1-methyl-1,3-hexadienyl)-3-pyrrolidineacetic Acid ; Domoate and Domoic acid .It is an amino acid associated with certain harmful algal blooms and is the neurotoxin which causes amnesic shellfish poisoning (ASP).
L-Domoic acid (CAS NO.14277-97-5) is a structural analog of kainic acid and proline. And it can bioaccumulate in marine organisms such as anchovies, shellfish, and sardines that feed on the phytoplankton known to produce this toxin. It can accumulate in high concentrations in the tissues of these plankton feeders when the toxic phytoplankton itself is high in concentration in the surrounding waters.
