Poison by intravenous and intraperitoneal routes. Moderately toxic by ingestion and subcutaneous routes. Human systemic effects by ingestion: agranulocytosis, thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, joint effects. Used as a local anesthetic. When heated to decomposition PROCAINAMIDE HYDROCHLORIDE (614-39-1) emits very toxic fumes of HCl and NOx.
