This product's systematic name is Poly(acrylamide-co-acrylic acid). It belongs to the product categories of Polymers; Acrylamides; Acrylics; Hydrophilic Polymers. With the CAS registry number 9003-06-9, it is also named as Acrylamide-acrylic acid copolymer. Its classification code is TSCA Flag XU [Exempt from reporting under the Inventory Update Rule]. It should be sealed and stored in a cool and dry place. Moreover, it should be protected from strong oxidants. It is used as anti-scaling dispersant, flocculant, thickener and settling agent.
Preparation: this chemical can be prepared by acrylic and acrylamide with molar ratio of 2:1. They are stired and dissolved by deionized water in a reaction kettle. Then add 10% of ammonium persulfate solution which is 7% amount of monomer. The reaction is heated up to 60 °C with the reaction time of 3 hours, then the products are got.
