Sodium percarbonate Specification

Sodium percarbonate is a chemical, an adduct of sodium carbonate and hydrogen peroxide (a perhydrate), with formula 2Na2CO3 · 3H2O2. It is a colorless, crystalline, hygroscopic and water-soluble solid. It is used in some eco-friendly cleaning products and as a laboratory source of anhydrous hydrogen peroxide.

Physical properties about Sodium percarbonate are: (1)ACD/LogP: -0.809; (2)ACD/LogD (pH 5.5): -1.98; (3)ACD/LogD (pH 7.4): -3.77; (4)ACD/BCF (pH 5.5): 1.00; (5)ACD/BCF (pH 7.4): 1.00; (6)ACD/KOC (pH 5.5): 1.00; (7)ACD/KOC (pH 7.4): 1.00; (8)#H bond acceptors: 3; (9)#H bond donors: 2; (10)Flash Point:169.8 °C; (11)Enthalpy of Vaporization: 63.37 kJ/moc; (12)Boiling Point: 333.6 °C at 760 mmHg; (13)Vapour Pressure: 2.58E-05 mmHg at 25°C

Preparation of Sodium percarbonate: Sodium percarbonate(CAS NO.15630-89-4) is easily decomposed by water, so it is produced commercially by reacting powdered anhydrous Na2CO3 with H2O2 dissolved in carbon tetrachloride CCl4. It can be obtained in the laboratory by reacting the two substances in aqueous solution with proper control of the pH or concentrations.

Uses of Sodium percarbonate: As an oxidizing agent, sodium percarbonate is an ingredient in a number of home and laundry cleaning products, including bleach products such as OxiClean, Tide laundry detergent, and Vanish. It contains no phosphorus or nitrogen. Dissolved in water, it yields a mixture of hydrogen peroxide (which eventually decomposes to water and oxygen) and sodium carbonate ("soda ash").
2Na2CO3.3H2O2 → 2Na2CO3 + 3H2O2
Sodium percarbonate can be used in organic synthesis as a convenient source of anhydrous H2O2, in particular in solvents that cannot dissolve the carbonate but can leach the H2O2 out of it.

When you are using this chemical, please be cautious about it as the following:
1. Keep away from combustible material;
2. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice;
3. Wear eye/face protection;
4. Wear suitable gloves and eye/face protection;
