Product Description

Diosgenin is the important basic material in the manufacture of the steroid hormone drugs. Steroid hormone has a strong resistance to infection, allergy, antiviral and pharmacological effects of shock, is the treatment of rheumatism, cardiovascular, lymphatic leukemia cells, encephalitis, skin diseases, antitumor and important medical rescue of critically ill patients.

Diosgenin, a phytosteroid sapogenin, is the product of hydrolysis by acids, strong bases, or enzymes of saponins, extracted from the tubers of Dioscorea wild yam, such as the Kokoro.

Diosgenin has a melting point of 204-207 °C. Soluble in gasoline, ethanol, chloroform and other organic solvents, insoluble in water.

Diosgenin is an important raw material for semi-synthetic steroids. The diterpene diketol can be prepared by subjecting diosgenin to ring opening, oxidation, hydrolysis and elimination. Dehydroepiandrosterone can be obtained by deuteration, rearrangement and hydrolysis. These intermediates are of great value in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals.

 

Function

Diosgenin has the effect of inhibiting the growth of cancer cells, and experiments have shown that it has the effects of lowering blood fat, anti-platelet aggregation and promoting bile secretion. Diosgenin is an important drug for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, leukemia, encephalitis, skin diseases, and tumors.

 

Application

Diosgenin is a precursor for several hormones, starting with the Marker degradation process, which includes synthesis of progesterone. Diosgenin is generally used to produce hormonal drugs such as pregnenolone, progesterone, and cortisone.

It is a precursor of synthetic steroid hormone drugs for the synthesis of hydrocortisone, prednisone, norethisterone, skin relaxant, dexamethasone, and other steroid drugs.
