The production methods of titanium dioxide are Chloride Process and Sulfate Process, which are usually applied in industry manufacture. The two production methods are introduced by Shanghai Titanos Industry Co., Ltd in details.
The chloride process is to utilize ilmenite as the titanium dioxide source and go through a listing of process to give titanium dioxide; Another Sulfate Process is as follows: Mix smashed rutile / high titanium slag and hard coke to react with chlorine to give titanium tetrachloride. Secondly, the product is being purified and then be oxidized to have titanium dioxide. Finally, go through a listing of processes as drying and smashing to give the final product titanium dioxide.
The production procedure is clearly explain by the following reaction equation:
2TiO2 + 3C + 4Cl2→2TiCl4 + 2CO↑+ CO2↑
TiCl4+O2→TiO2+ 2Cl2
