Preparation of Tetramethylene acrylate: It can be obtained by propenoic acid and 1,4-butanediol.

Tetramethylene acrylate can be obtained by propenoic acid and 1,4-butanediol

Uses of Tetramethylene acrylate: It is used as comonomer and used in coatings, adhesives, ion exchange resins, etc. It is also used in rubber, cross-linking agent of synthetic resin, and radiation curable coating and inks. What's more, it can react with (Z)-cyclooctene to get 1,6dioxa-cyclooctadeca-8,16-diene-7,18-dione. This reaction needs catalytic agent [Cl2(PCy3)Ru=CHPh(N,N'-(Mes)2-imidazolidin-2-yl)] and solvent CH2Cl2 by heating. The yield is 45%.

Tetramethylene acrylate can react with (Z)-cyclooctene to get 1,6dioxa-cyclooctadeca-8,16-diene-7,18-dione
